He Still Reigns
What an interesting time in the world it is.
There is so much going on. Wars and refugees, debates and elections, floods and fires, death and despair. And yet, there are still weddings and babies being born, laughter and crisp Autumn breezes, jazz music and great coffee. The world is both terrible and beautiful at the same time. It’s a tension that I wrestle with on the daily; the great mystery of living in a sinful and broken, yet God-inspired-and-created world.
“Hallelujah! O my soul, praise GOD! All my life long I’ll praise GOD, singing songs to my God as long as I live.
Don’t put your life in the hands of experts who know nothing of life, of salvation life. Mere humans don’t have what it takes; when they die, their projects die with them. Instead, get help from the God of Jacob, put your hope in GOD and know real blessing!”
Psalm 146:1-5 MSG
In the next week, the United States will have elected a new President. I’ve heard many people say that they have never recalled such a polarizing and strange election season. It is very tempting to feel frustration, despair, anger, and bitterness in this season. We are inundated with hateful media, news of disasters, angry debates, and scenes of hardship and injustice all over the world. This is the broken and beautiful world that we live in.
Today I want to encourage my fellow Christians. “Mere humans don’t have what it takes”, we must cling to the truth that GOD STILL REIGNS, now and forevermore. Even if Donald Trump is President, He still reigns. Even if Hillary Clinton is President, He still reigns. Even if there is no more Social Security, He still reigns. Even if we end up in another war, He still reigns.
“GOD made sky and soil, sea and all the fish in it. He always does what he says— he defends the wronged, he feeds the hungry. GOD frees prisoners— he gives sight to the blind, he lifts up the fallen. GOD loves good people, protects strangers, takes the side of orphans and widows, but makes short work of the wicked.
GOD ’s in charge— always. Zion’s God is God for good! Hallelujah!”
Psalm 146:3-10 MSG
Even on November 9th, no matter the outcome, He still reigns.
