A Day in the Bay: Coffee, Pizza, & IKEA
The hubs and some dear friends of ours spent the day in the Bay this past Saturday celebrating one of their birthdays. It was a lovely, lovely day with coffee, gourmet pizza, and a trip to one of my favorite places in the world--IKEA.
We started the day with an attempt to visit Counter Culture Coffee--a huge favourite of ours!--only to discover that the Emeryville, CA location is not a cafe but just a wholesale location.
Undaunted, we made our way to Blue Bottle Coffee in North Oakland. This is such a beautiful location in a historic building with high ceilings, lots of light, and of course, delicious coffee.
Then, the wonder that is IKEA. Fun fact: The Emeryville IKEA was John and I's very first date, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. :)
After trekking around IKEA for a solid few hours, we satiated our hunger with a trip to Jupiter in Berkeley for a late lunch. Gourmet pizza, house-made beer, and a magical outdoor seating area with a lovely fire pit and lots of greenery--Jupiter was the perfect cap to a lovely day in the Bay (if you do go to Jupiter anything you order will be fantastic, but spring for their house-made Ranch dressing--it is SO GOOD).
Happy, happy birthday, Jo!
The only thing that would have made this day better was if Josi's husband could have been there with us. We missed you, Dennis!
